The new commercial of the Prevention Network "Kein Täter werden" (Don't Offend) is to show that therapeutic treatment of people who feel sexually attracted to children is effective to prevent child sexual abuse. The protagonists represent the experiences from the Prevention Network: "People like you and me"- People from different age and from all social ranks. On the one hand this shall promote a more human attitude to sexual minoritys - like pedophilia or hebephilia - and further motivates the participation in the therapy program. The message is: Nobody is to blame for their sexual preference, but everyone is responsible for their own behaviour. It is not the preference to condemned morally but the action, which harms others. Women don’t appear in the commercial „Kein Täter werden“ (Don’t offend), because, according to latest research and clinical practice, the sexual preference of pedophilia is very rare to find in women. The therapeutic offer is meant for pedophilic individuals, which are attracted to children and fear to commit offending actions. Women would not have been representative and were therefore excluded from the commercial. According to the criminal police statistics in Germany (2014) the overall percentage of women suspected of sexual child abuse is at 4,6%. However the percentage of actions being unreported is expected to be much higher, as it is in the case of male offenders. Clinical experience and research showed that sexual offending women are very unlikely to be pedophile. They commit child sexual abuse, because of other reasons (Most female offenders are sexually attracted to adults, but commit sexual child abuse due to other reasons such as personality disorders (etc.)). The offer in the Prevention Network “Kein Täter werden” (Don’t offend) is aimed to individuals for people seeking therapeutic help with their sexual preference for children and/or early adolescents. There are other offers for different target groups. The Prevention Network “Kein Täter werden” offers treatment for individuals that are sexually attracted to children and/or use child sexual abuse images (so called child pornography) at all their locations. The treatment offer is free of charge and is protected through the principle of confidentiality. However individuals are required to be free of current prosecution due to child abuse or the use of childe abusive material. Within the therapy the affected individuals are given support to prevent direct sexual abuse and indirect abuse such as in the use or the production of child abusive material in the internet.
