9th Class Chemistry || Newland's Octave Law || Chap 3 || FSC HUB

The Newlands' Octave Law, proposed by chemist John Newlands in 1864, suggests that the properties of elements are periodic functions of their atomic weights. According to this law, when elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic weights, their properties exhibit a periodic nature. Newlands compared this periodicity to the musical octaves, where every eighth element displayed similar properties to the first element. Elements within the same octave demonstrated similar chemical and physical characteristics, while elements in different octaves showed distinct differences. However, the Newlands' Octave Law had limitations. It failed to account for the existence of additional elements beyond those known at the time and did not accurately predict the properties of undiscovered elements. Despite its limitations, the law played a significant role in the development of the periodic table, inspiring later scientists to explore and refine the concept of periodicity. #9thclasschemistry #9thclass #periodictable #newlandoctaverule
