Wide shot soldiers down streets STORYLINE Hundreds of Israeli soldiers on Sunday searched for suspects in the Qasbah area of the West Bank city of Nablus, which Israel has described as a "hotbed" of militant activity. More than 50-thousand Palestinians were forced to stay in their homes for a third day running as the Israeli crackdown continued. Many schools did not open as tanks patrolled the streets and troops went from house to house, searching for militants in the centre of the city. Dozens of residents said they were detained for questioning. Israel last week launched the operation in Nablus - focused on the Balata refugee camp - but intensified its searches after a suicide bomber from the area carried out an attack in Tel Aviv on Thursday, killing four Israelis. The army took over several tall buildings around Balata to use their roofs as lookouts. An army spokesman said troops were targeting a "vast terrorist infrastructure" in the city.
