So Close to Melting My Drone - Iceland Volcano July, 2025

I happened to be in Iceland when a new volcano started. (What good timing!) We parked as close as I could and took the drone out. These shots look slow motion, but most are not. We calculated that the lava was shooting up 300 feet in some places. The winds were insane and killed the battery fast. I had to fly out as fast as I could, shoot for 5 minutes, and book it back. When you get there, the volcano makes its own wind. Also, you can't fly through the ash or it will gum up the motors. Needless to say, this was the toughest flying conditions I've seen. The results were worth it.
