A bill for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has been tabled in the Uttarakhand Assembly and is the subject of debate. Constitutional Advocate and National Spokesperson of Bharatiya Danta Party, Narendra Modi, sheds light on the historical and constitutional significance of this endeavour and dismisses opposition claims of religious bias. According to Modi, the UCC is part of the constitutional vision laid down in Article 44 of the Directive Principles of State Policy, dating back to 1950. He further highlights the ongoing efforts in Assam to ban polygamy, as part of a committee tasked with drafting the law. The Advocate asserts that these movements are more a pursuit of development and integration, rather than religious conflict. The principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas', i.e. 'Together with all, Development for all, Trust for all, Effort for all', coined by Prime Minister Modi, underpins these legal changes. The descriptor ends with an assurance that the UCC is not discriminatory and emphasizes that it abides by the constitutional vision of India. #UniformCivilCode #UttarakhandAssembly #NarendraModi #IndianConstitution #PolygamyBan #Assam Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video.
