What do 6 scales, an asphalting plant, a landfill and a loading station for gravel as well as 3 wheel loaders and numerous trucks have in common? In the Bavarian Altmühltal, exactly these components are networked with software by Batsch, the butler app. The Geiger company, a family business founded in 1929 by Hermann Geiger Sr. employs around 280 people today. The company has been relying on the Austrian industry software in the area of bulk goods for more than 5 years. The Geiger Group headquarters in Pfraundorf has a logistical specialty. At this location, four lanes equipped with scales are used in the entrance area to carry our more than 550 weighings every day. Let's take a brief tour through the different areas in which the butler-app supports the daily business. Here, over 80 vehicles are efficiently dispatched here every day. A truck entering the site receives driving commands from a navigation device installed in its vehicle. As soon as the order is confirmed, the truck drives to one of the automated scales and identifies itself clearly with a chip card. During loading, the vehicle communicates via the butler-app – either with the silo control system or with the wheel loader, depending on which material is required. After successfully loaded, the truck leaves the site and drives back to one of the automated scales where the material and quantity are confirmed and a delivery note is printed out. For documentation purposes, the delivery note is handed over, signed and returned. The not is then scanned and automatically assigned to the electronic data record using a QR code. An additional scale, staffed by extra personnel, is available for vehicles from third-party companies and those collecting small quantities. Due to the special control requirements, this landfill has its own scale. Here, the delivered quantities are checked personally and the officially required documentations are carried out using the butler system. The asphalting plant located in the factory is also equipped with its own scale. Here too, the networked software solution with the Butler-app is used, as the asphalting plant software and the software for paving quality recording communicate with the Butler in real time.
