I am a Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the seventy fourth day of the war. Day 74: May 08 In Kharkiv region the Russians continue to retreat. The Ukrainians continue to move into the freed area and establish their combat centers there. The plan of the Ukrainians is to continue to push the Russians out of the region and past the administrative borders with Russia. This is the only highly successful direction for the Ukrainians – the perimeter of the second largest city in the country, Kharkiv, is now completely free, even though a few weeks ago the Russians controlled 70% of the perimeter and even attacked the Ukrainians inside the city. In the north-east the Ukrainians tried to strike Izyum – the main Russian combat center in the region. The Ukrainians established two passages over the local river and successfully moved to the other side. This was the third counterattack in this region, however, the Russians managed to repel this attack. In the east things are getting pretty bad for the Ukrainians. After the Russians took the town Yampil, they gained a lot of ground to the south of Lyman. Today it was reported that the Russians established full control over the forestall area between Lyman and Yampil and Sieverodonetsk, and started advancing in this region. They already established several passages over the local river and were seen on the other side. Simultaneously, the Russians managed to fully take the town Popasna. Inside the town the Russians took down tactically important positions and the Ukrainian defense was severely compromised and fell very quickly. All of that means that the towns Lysychansk and Sieverodonetsk are under a significant threat of being besieged. The Ukrainian army made a request to the general staff to move out of Sieverodonetsk, because if they continue to stay, then in a few days they may be completely taken in circle. Today most of the Ukrainian troops are located in Lysychansk, Sieverodonetsk, Siversk, Vrubivka and Bakhmut. So far the Ukrainians control a good porting of the region in middle to safely pull out, however, the Russians have already started attacking the northern part of Lysychansk, and if the Russians take the town Vrubivka, then regrouping here will become extremely risky and 8 thousand soldiers will be cut off the mainland. In the south the Russians started to actively attack the town Orikhiv and Huliaipole. The Russians are trying to take a few more villages to the west of Orikhiv. Huliaipole is mostly being attack from the air, the Russians are likely to still be gathering information about the Ukrainian defense. In the second southern direction the Russians continue to strike the southern part of the Odessa region with rockets. These rockets for the most part targeted airports and air defense systems in the central and southern part of the Odessa region, however, lately the Russians started to conduct similar attacks in the northern part of the Odessa region near the border with the Mykolaiv region. This suggests that they are preparing to enter these territories and try to make sure that their aviation will be safe. In trying to take back control over the southern part of the Odessa region, the Ukrainians conducted a massive attack on the Zmiyinyy Island, however, the counterattack was repelled. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, by the end of the seventy fourth day of the war the Russians had lost 199 (+0) airplanes, 156 (+1) helicopters, 1130 (+8) tanks, 2741 (+28) armored fighting vehicles, and 25 500 (+400) soldiers. I will continue to make daily updates on the situation, so stay tuned.
