This community was built to house workers for the facility when it opened in 1958. It is the first commercial electric generating station in the US to utilize nuclear energy. Over a decade ago the residents sold their homes for three times the market value as part of plan to expand the nuclear power plant site. The once-promising redevelopment ended in empty promises, leaving a neighborhood bought out and abandoned, its vacant homes a testament to failed plans.
