Part One of the interview between Lee Cooper and Rohan Paulpillai. One of the most successful batsmen to play at Cramer Street in the last 40 years and that is no understatement. Rohan’s playing resume speaks for itself. Rohan debuted in the First XI in the 1987/1988 Season against Balwyn. Rohan is First XI player number 401. Rohan played 104 games for Preston, from 1987/1988 until 1994/1995. His First XI career batting stats are as follows- 104 games 4,184 runs at 47.55 106 innings 18 times not out 8 centuries 22 half centuries Highest score of 123* He is a dual First XI Premiership player. Rohan won the RS Norris Club Champion Medal five times in a row from 1987/1988 to 1991/1992. He is only one of three Preston players to win the RS Norris Medal five times in a row. The other two are Eddie Rutenfelds and Kevin Lowe. Rohan won the First XI batting average a record seven times in a row from 1987/1988 until 1993/1994. Rohan, along with Premiership Captain Ray Harvey, Neil Turl and Eoghan Delany, are the only players to score more than 600 First XI runs in a season (Rohan and Ray did it twice) and he is the only Preston First XI player to score more than 700 runs in a season. Rohan holds the Club record of 8 centuries in the First XI and he is the only Preston player to sit on the VSDCA list of First XI players with 6 or more First XI centuries. Rohan, along with Ray, have their names immortalised now with the player making the most runs for the Club across all elevens, being awarded the Harvey-Paulpillai Medal.
