Today I visit Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens, to tell you about the history of the school and as I do with other high schools that I film, I also tell you about the famous alumni who once attended this New York school. I filmed this the day before Thanksgiving and I thought that the kids would be off for the day, so I was a little surprised to see that they were still in school. Thankfully I managed to get the filming done before they came out. Like most other schools in New York there are many famous people who once attended, from broadcasters to actors along with a number of singers. The school also counted among its faculty a survivor of the Titanic disaster. In the pinned comment I will leave the playlist for all of the other schools in NYC that I have filmed. Grover Cleveland is where Rosie Perez went to school, as well as the founder of worldstarhiphop. As you will see from the famous alumni, the school is very culturally diverse with notable people coming from all backgrounds. The school was modeled after Kirby Hall, an Elizabethan country house located near Gretton, Northamptonshire, England. In fact a total of seven New York schools were built during the great depression using the same set of blueprints, of which Grover Cleveland high school was one of them.
