April 2, 2013 - Despite a slow start to the lockout-shortened season, Ovechkin and the Caps had begun to claw their way back into the playoff race with a 9-6-1 record in the month of March. Individually, the Great 8 was also heating up with 10 goals and 19 points in those 16 games. Kicking off the regular season's final month, the Caps headed to Raleigh for a crucial matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes, with whom the Caps were tied in the standings. Ovechkin delivered with one of his best games of the season, recording a two-goal, one-assist night. His second goal of the game was not only his 20th of the season - a milestone he reached nine games earlier than the year before - but ended up being the game-winning goal. The win put Washington at .500 for the first time all season, and Ovechkin's three points put him above a point-per-game pace after a slow start. Ovi's hot streak continued the rest of the way, with the Great 8 recording 12 goals and 19 points in the final 12 games en route to his third Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player. Had to use the Carolina feed for this one because the CSN feed had audio issues for the first six minutes of gameplay. At least John Forslund is a good play-by-play guy and Tripp Tracy wasn't too bad this game.
