How to guide a blind person has never been easier with Traveleyes new product - the Companion Cane. In 2020 the world was hit by a global pandemic that has affected the world in a way we have never experienced during this lifetime, and with this came a whole host of problems for different groups of people that still haven’t been addressed. One group that has been particularly hard hit by the crisis is blind people, who have been continuously overlooked in COVID-19 safety and welfare policy. With the main issues stemming from the fact that no practical solution has been put in place to allow blind people to live their lives whilst maintaining responsible social distancing. Traveleyes aims to look for solutions that enable blind people to not just be able to travel, but to so safely and comfortably. With this in mind, a new product was born: The Companion Cane. The Companion Cane is an assistive tool used to support blind people as they tackle the specific challenges they face, without asking them to make unnecessary compromises. It allows them to retain as much independent mobility as enjoyed previously without also affording them the confidence to know they are safe. Whilst the Companion Cane was initially designed as a solution to social distancing problems, the product itself has a longevity past the global pandemic. The CC allows the users to enjoy an element of peace and tranquillity on outings, as it can be extended to 1.5 metres allowing for a comfortable distance between users and giving the sense of being alone. Here, Traveleyes Founder, Amar Latif, demonstrates how to safely us the Companion Cane and just how easy it is to get a little space!
