Exploring the Graniteville Historic District (Westford, MA)

J-MASS INSTAGRAM: @jmassofficial Join me as I explore the Graniteville Historic District, an old industrial neighborhood within the town of Westford, Massachusetts! Located right on the banks of the Stony Brook Reservoir, this area is known for its two granite mills: the Abbot Worsted Co. mill, which is currently abandoned, and the C. G. Sargent's Sons Co., which is being rented out by modern companies. There is also a large warehouse behind both mills that is completely abandoned, which I explore for the very first time! I have always found this area unique, primarily due to the very minimal information online about both mills, especially the Abbot Worsted mill. Due to the Graniteville neighborhood being well-known for its granite quarries, and both mills being made of granite blocks, my best assumption is that they were involved in the granite manufacturing process. Aside from the history and urban exploration, the area itself is beautiful, with bright scenery!
