Brightline Construction: Interstate 95 Bridge and Cocoa Curve/Tunnel Progress - July 2021

In this Brightline construction update, I look at the progress on the Interstate 95 bridge, Cocoa Panel Tunnel, Industry Road Bridge, and Cocoa Tunnel interchange as part of the company's phase 2 expansion of passenger rail service to the Orlando market. Six beams were installed over an exit ramp. The rest of the bridge will be installed over the course of the next month. Eventually this bridge will carry two tracks. Next I drive past the Cocoa Panel Tunnel where all of the panels are installed and progress is beginning to cover it with dirt so State Road 528 can be routed over it. Then I head to Industry Road to take a look at the bridge there and the overall Cocoa Curve progress. Both ramps are nearing completion here. At the Cocoa Tunnel, subroadbed has been laid out of the south end of the tunnel. Brush clearing has also begun for where the tracks will parallel the existing FEC mainline until where it will join into it past Michigan Ave. I finish with a drive west on State Road 528 looking at the progress on the route on the north side of the road.
