TEXT. MUSIC & PRODUCER Sascha Lappessen Ralf Kappmeier Thomas Alisson VOCAL PERFORMED BY Inka Minna Auhagen RELEASE DATE: 2000 GENRE: Trance SASH! is one of the hottest electronic music projects of the '90s, which, despite its German roots, captured the hearts of listeners worldwide, and its echoes still resonate on dance floors. Behind this success lies not only a catchy blend of trance, house, and pop but also the fascinating story of three talented musicians: Sascha Lappessen, Ralf Kappmeier, and Thomas "Alisson" Lüdke. It all began in Nettetal, Germany, where Sascha Lappessen was born. His fascination with music led him to Thomas Lüdke, with whom he decided to form a duo. In 1994, their first single "Indian Rave" was released under the pseudonym Careca: CARECA - INDIAN RAVE • Careca - Indian Rave (The very first SASH!... Soon after, Ralf Kappmeier joined the duo, and the project SASH! was born. The breakthrough came with "Encore Une Fois" (French for "Once Again"), featuring Sabine Ohmes on vocals Despite being German, she sang in French, which added a unique charm. The track became a hit selling over 2 million copies and reaching #2 on UK charts: SASH! – ENCORE UNE FOIS (FUTURE BREEZE ORIGINAL MIX) • Sash! – Encore Une Fois (Future Breeze Ori... Interesting facts about "ENCORE UNE FOIS" When the single was originally released, a pressing error caused the first two tracks (Original and Future Breeze versions) to be swapped, leading to an unexpected success for the Future Breeze remix, significantly increasing its popularity without listeners knowing it wasn't the original version. Ultimately, this unplanned switch made this version the official one The massive success of "Encore Une Fois" prompted the record label to request another similar track from Sash! However, the members of Sash! wanted to grow, explore new directions, and discover new sounds Ultimately, an interesting agreement was reached Sabine Ohmes, the vocalist of "Encore Une Fois," was offered the opportunity to create her own project. Fans already knew her voice. Meanwhile, the production team Sash! created the next track desired by the label in a similar tone. The track was handed over to Sabine, who named the separate project "ENCORE!" in honor of its creation. This way, a new project debuted on dance floors, as well as the spiritual successor to "Encore Une Fois," called "Encore - Le Disc Jockey," which also achieved success on the charts as expected. Much of the "Encore Une Fois" music video was reused for cost savings ENCORE!–LE DISC-JOCKEY • Encore! – Le Disc-Jockey The Sash! team immediately created a second track for Encore (also successfully), which was ENCORE!–LE PARADIS • Encore! - Le Paradis (John B. Norman Remix) In 1997, they released "Stay", which also hit #2 in the UK: SASH! -STAY • Sash! - Stay (feat. La Trec) Later that year, "ECUADOR " premiered, achieving even greater success: SASH!
