How to safely sew two halves of an appropriate tablecloth together to make a long wrap. Be sure your tablecloth is a good weight for a wrap -- it should have a relatively loose weave (not tight like quality sheets) and ideally should be 100% cotton or linen with little or no polyester or other man-made fibers. Jacquard-woven tablecloths are the closest to feeling like a "real" wrap, though woven-in stripes are also good. Printed tablecloths won't be as comfortable and usually have a wrong side, and often they are not a good weight. Mahogany brand tablecloths are a babywearing favorite, but you can also find decent striped ones at Target and other home stores, frequently at clearance prices. Stay away from thinner tablecloths or vintage ones of unknown fabric content, as they may be brittle or unsafe.
