Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together. Thai, also known as Central Thai or historically Siamese, is a Tai language from the Kra–Dai language family. It is spoken primarily by the Central Thai, Mon, Lao Wiang, and Phuan people in Central Thailand, as well as by Thai Chinese communities across the country. Thai is the only official language of Thailand and the most widely spoken among the over 60 languages in the country. It is a tonal and analytic language, with more than half of its vocabulary derived from Pali, Sanskrit, Mon, and Old Khmer. Be, also known as Ong Be, comprises a pair of languages spoken by 600,000 people, including 100,000 monolingual speakers, on the north-central coast of Hainan Island near Haikou. Be speakers are considered part of the Han Chinese nationality in the census, and the languages are taught in primary schools. Be languages belong to the Kra–Dai language family, though their exact relationship to other Kra-Dai languages is still unclear. This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes. It aims to provide valuable insights and knowledge to viewers, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of different languages and their unique characteristics. By raising awareness about linguistic diversity, the video seeks to foster a greater respect and recognition for various languages, particularly those that are endangered or underrepresented. Additionally, it contributes to the preservation of languages by documenting and sharing linguistic knowledge, thus ensuring that these languages and their cultural heritage are not lost to future generations.
