PANCAKE WEEK Fail! Food, Dancing & Ice Go-Karting!

Maslenitsa, often called "Pancake Week", is one of Russia’s oldest and most vibrant festivals. It marks the end of winter and the arrival of spring, lasting an entire week! Each day of Maslenitsa has a unique tradition, from feasting on blini (pancakes) to games, performances, and the grand burning of a straw effigy on Sunday, symbolizing the farewell to winter. For our Maslenitsa adventure, we took the kids into Moscow’s festive celebrations. However, my timing wasn’t perfect, and we missed the effigy burning we had hoped to film! Thankfully, the day was still packed with fun and surprises. The kids enjoyed a fantastic atmosphere full of singing, dancing, and even go-karting on ice! 🏎️❄️ We also discovered an incredible Georgian restaurant, where we enjoyed delicious food accompanied by live traditional music. Though our plan to eat pancakes during the festival didn’t quite work out, we made up for it by having them at home later. Despite the "off-plan" nature of the day, it was an amazing family experience, filled with laughter, great food, and festive energy.
