Today we will talk about the closure of the stomach varices. Mostly varices happen after the cirrhosis. In cirrhosis, large sections of scar tissue develop throughout the liver and cause blood flow to slow. Gastric varices are dilated submucosal veins in the stomach, which can be a life-threatening cause of bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal tract. The same thing happens at the esophagus but ıts more easier to close the varices at the esophagus because of the rubber bands with endoscopic way .At stomach varices we cant use the band system for closure,ıt causes more bleeding. There are 2 developed systems for this : 1-Cynoacrylate Glue: This is endoscopic ultrasound technique giving cynoacrylate injection . 2-Coil treatment: Gastric varices involves the placement of micro-coils into the varices leading to obliteration.There is minimum complication and the result is effective. Now I will show you the endoscopic ultrasound guided cynoacrylate injection. Here you see the gastric varices here. we enter into this vein with endoscopic needle and we start cynoacrylate injection and the varice starts to close,at the beginning we are giving a little dose. Cynoacrylate is a sticky material beacuse of that we should be careful at the endoscope channels.We make doppler to check the blood stream. And the varices are becoming less. And closed. Now we are giving more dose of cynoacrylate. Its totally closed and completed. After the operation there isn’t any complication.There is no patient complaint since 3 months.
