Comedy writer, television producer and Solent Honorary Doctor John Lloyd, CBE, returned to visit us this year during graduation week. During his visit he took time out to talk to us about what he loves about the place, why he comes back to see us and of his plans to work with us in the near future. In short film, find out why he has chosen to use the 'Professor of Ignorance' title aligned to our university on his popular radio comedy show The Museum of Curiosity. John was one of the creators and the original producer of Spitting Image, Not the Nine O'Clock News and Blackadder. He also helped devise Have I Got News for You, which is based on The News Quiz and went on to devise QI, billed as the world's most impossible quiz. Two radio shows which he created in the mid seventies -- Quote...unquote and The News Quiz -- are still running 35 years later. John also created the long running topical comedy show The News Huddlines and co-wrote the first series of both The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and To the Manor Born. He has co-written or edited more than 20 books and The Meaning of Liff has been in print for almost 30 years continuously. He has won countless international awards including four international Emmies and a Grammy and has also been presented with lifetime awards from both BAFTA and the Royal Television Society.
