I love mermaids, and I am sure that part of that is the 1989 Little Mermaid movie was the first Disney movie I ever saw. Although I enjoyed it, I hated the prequel TV series. It was so boring because no matter what you knew the characters had to make it out alright for the movie to happen. And even trying to judge it on its own the writing was just bad with scenes like Ariel defeating a pretty cool villain voiced by Tim Curry with a song! So I was going to have look elsewhere for a good show about a mermaid, and I was fortunate enough to find this anime. It was a great little series, much better than the Disney show. Instead of a boring prequel sries where nothing interesting could happen you had a show which was building its own little world episode by episode. The animation isn't that great, but if that is the worst thing you can say about something you're usually in a good place. I have wanted to do a music video for it for a while, but could never find the right song. The Japanese opening is good, but it's not a serious contender for my favorite anime opening. Then I found a perfect song for it with the Italian theme. Even better, it ended up being the sort of video I needed for Valentine's Day! I've wanted to do a romantic music video for a long time but have been unable to come up with one until this. The title translates to A Little Mermaid In Love so that's perfect. So I decided to do a tribute to the first couple episodes, mainly the first because it's one of my favorite first episodes of an anime ever. I honestly hate the original version of the story with the sad ending, reading it at 10 was one of my most traumatic childhood moments. Looking back it's scary that of the 3 Little Mermaid adaptions I saw during the 90s this was the closest any of them came to turning into sea foam. But thankfully they decided to distance themselves from the original story in episode 1 and never looked back. I am very satisfied with this video. This video was made using Windows Live Moviemaker. The footage came from official DVD releases. Credit for the song goes to Cristina D'Avena. I do not own the rights to Saban's Adventures of the Little Mermaid or this song, they belong to their respective owners.
