Santa Monica — Friday Afternoon, December 19, 2025 — A law enforcement pursuit involving a box truck moved through Santa Monica Friday afternoon, prompting a coordinated response from both the Los Angeles Police Department and the Santa Monica Police Department. According to on-scene observations, several LAPD patrol units and Santa Monica police squad cars pursued the box truck as it traveled through city streets. A police helicopter was also observed overhead, assisting ground units during the pursuit. As a precautionary measure, Santa Monica police temporarily closed access to the Santa Monica Pier. A marked patrol vehicle was positioned at the pier entrance to prevent the suspect vehicle from entering the heavily trafficked area, where pedestrians and visitors were present at the time. The pursuit continued through the surrounding neighborhood before concluding elsewhere. No injuries were immediately reported, and authorities did not release further details Friday regarding the reason for the pursuit or the status of the driver.
