Cedar boxes

I made three cedar jewelry boxes. These are made from local red cedar here in Arkansas. Sides, top and bottom are 3/4" thick. The boxes are roughly 8"X11"x5". They have two brass hinges on each lid and the latch is made from leather and a brass machine screw. I used three coats of lacquer on the exteriors but left the insides unfinished to have a more pronounced cedar aroma when the box is opened. When I brought the boxes inside, just prior to finishing, the kids started warping. I then decided to put cleats on the tops to reinforce them and stave off any cracking. After attaching the cleats, I let them sit overnight to acclimate before spraying the finish. There is a definite difference in the humidity levels of the shop and the house.
