7 MONTH UPDATE: Both units I installed in our 2008 and 2012 Accords from this specific seller are still working perfectly! Detailed installation of an Android touchscreen stereo into a 2008 Honda Accord. The process is the same for model years 2008 - 2012 (8th Generation Accord). Link to the Android Stereo unit in the video: https://amzlink.to/az0Ai66g5QhxS This is the 2G +64G Basic Version (basic = Accords without factory Navigation) There are other memory options available, but I recommend a unit with at least 2G RAM for performance reasons. Links to upgraded units with even more RAM and internal storage are below. 4G + 64G version is at this link: https://amzlink.to/az023mz6G92rz 6G + 128G version is at this link: https://amzlink.to/az0fQij5E3Xwf Link to the cable extender I used (USB 3.0 and USB C): https://amzlink.to/az0Vx78QHX1IS If you prefer 2 USBs: https://amzlink.to/az0x65gT6NWTS The cable extender I used requires a 1 inch hole drilled. If you need a hole saw for your drill, here is an inexpensive one. https://amzlink.to/az0tIzlX1z0Sx The 'shorter' the bit the better, as it is a tight fit getting the drill into the center console. Tip for when drilling - center the hole in the cavity you are drilling into as this will help to get the backing nut onto the extender. License plate camera bracket I purchased: https://amzlink.to/az06I624dCRp3 I did go back and connect an FM antenna which I demonstrate in the 2nd video (backup camera install). Link to the one I purchased is here: https://amzlink.to/az0Eg6UPl3QME Trim tool kit I purchased (has came in handy several times): https://amzlink.to/az0fOwJ3rqE6e The included links are Amazon Affiliate links. What does affiliate link mean? I may earn a small (much appreciated!) commission from Amazon for providing the link, but it costs you nothing. Link to second video focusing on the backup camera installation: • 2008 - 2012 8th Gen Honda Accord ster... The way I installed the GPS antenna works well. I suggest connecting it so the 'speedometer' function works on the display. The built-in microphone works. It is not studio quality, but my daughter and I were easily able to speak with one another on the phone. MAKE SURE you verify your backup camera connection to the correct video (yellow) cable on the rear of the unit. Don't ask me how I know, but found out while testing the camera function. I have since installed the second unit in our 2012 Accord Coupe. The install and wiring for the stereo was EXACLTY the same. A NOTE IF YOUR BREAKOUT ADAPTER CABLE DOES NOT MATCH YOUR CAR RADIO CONNECTOR: A few commenters stated the AUX Breakout Cable did not mate up as their car's radio had a 24 pin connector instead of the supplied 20 pin breakout connector. One commenter researched this and it appears Honda has different rear radio connectors for different audio systems. Premium audio or not and 6 CD changer or 1 have different rear connectors. The radio in my video is the premium audio with a 20 pin connector where the AUX connections are broken out in the breakout cable. If you have the 24 pin connector on your radio, a simple solution is to drill a hole in the bottom your your center console big enough to pass the supplied 'long AUX cable' through (which I did not use), plug the AUX end into the car's AUX port in the armrest, run the cable through the center console and connect the other end (red/white audio jacks) to the red/white audio OUTS on the new head. There is a chance with this longer connection to the AUX interface that there may be a ground loop that will cause 'buzzing'. If this is the case, I suggest trying a ground loop isolator to correct this. They are very inexpensive and I have provided a link to highly rated one: https://amzlink.to/az0UZSeacDemS I assume sellers of this type of head supply the 20 pin connector as it is probably the most common configuration Honda sold. And sorry for not demonstrating music, but it would get flagged for copyright violations by YouTube.
