Dr. Joe's All About Aging Cigars III: Desktop Humidors, Pt. 2 - Maintenance & Humidity Solutions The third episode of our series covering all aspects of cigar storage and aging cigars deals with desktop humidors. In the first part of this episode, we talked all about setup and seasoning - preparing your humidor to store and age your cigars safely and in ideal conditions. Using a brand new Prometheus humidor, we showed you step by step how to properly go about breaking in the box. Our goal was to increase RH inside the humidor to at least 80% over the course of 4-7 days. We loaded our sponges with distilled water, setup our hygrometers and humidity elements, put everything in the humidor, closed it, locked it - and waited... That's where we left off and in part 2, we reveal how the process worked and see if the humidor is ready to become a new home for a few lucky cigars. After that, we're headed back down to the Dr. Joe studio where we have three other humidors, all packed to the lid with cigars. Among them we have an Elie Bleu and a Daniel Marshall. These humidors range greatly in style, size, cost and most importantly, humidification methods. They've all been operational for many years - in one case, nearly a decade at this point, so we know that these humidification solutions work - and they work well. We're going to take a good look at how each humidor is setup, what kind of humidity element each is using and of course, at the condition of the cigars inside. This also give us a great chance to oblige some recent viewer requests to see what's inside the boxes. Several people have been asking for a tour of my own collection. I've decided that's entirely possibly by doing it a little at a time. Today, you'll get a peak at some of the cigars I''m storing via desktop humidors - and soon, it will be on to the wineador...
