This song, “Before I Knew,” is inspired by the opening chapter of my upcoming true-story book, D.N.A. – Do Not Assume. My story begins long before I understood the questions that would shape my life. When I was only 19 months old, my mother left, leaving behind a mystery and a wound I would carry for many years. Yet through every season of my life, God’s hand was guiding me, even when I didn’t understand the path. Years later, during a powerful prophetic moment at Morningstar Church, I was told that I would write a book. What I didn’t realize at the time was how many hidden pieces of my life story were still waiting to be revealed. “Before I Knew” reflects the truth that God often writes the story of our lives long before we understand it ourselves. This song is part of a growing series inspired by my book D.N.A. – Do Not Assume, a true story of faith, identity, family, and the unexpected ways God reveals the truth.
