Punjab policeman's hand successfully reattached | He was attacked by Nihangs in Patiala | Lockdown

The hand of the policeman who was attacked by Nihangs this morning in Patiala, Punjab, has been reattached after a 7 and a half hour surgery. Punjab chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh tweeted out saying the operation which took place at the Post Graduate Institute in Chandigarh was a success, and that he wished Assistant Sub Inspector Harjeet Singh a speedy recovery. The culprits who were responsible for this attack were apprehended after a tense exchange. The had escaped in their car after this attack, and hid at gurudwara. When policemen went there and asked them to surrender, they refused. They had guns, ammunition, petrol bombs and gas cylinders in their possession. They threatened to blow up those cylinders if police entered the gurudwara premises. Yet, the Punjab police successfully extracted them, and they are now in custody. The Sikh community has condemned this incident, and demanded that such people should be strictly dealt with.
