Digital Mapping System of the DSWD Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program

🎥 𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), has prompted to establish the Digital Mapping System (DMS), an innovation designed to strengthen food security systems in the country. The DMS is an initiative under the DSWD Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program. According to Assistant Secretary for Innovations Baldr H. Bringas, one of the mandates of the EPAHP Program is to link Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) such as farmer cooperatives to institutional markets in order to increase their agricultural production and to provide more income to farmers. The innovation was designed and funded by the FAO under a Technical Cooperation Programme with the DSWD EPAHP. FAO Management Information System (MIS) Specialist Mr. Holden Hao highlighted that the online registration of the CBOs is one of the DMS' main features. Project Development Officer III Mr. Daniw Plaridel Santiago of the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) shared the features of the DMS which includes the Geographic Information System that can provide spatial analysis for better resource allocation by revealing geographic patterns. The DMS will be open to the public to assist CBOs to access government programs needing their commodities, while agencies can utilize the system to easily locate and purchase supplies to feed their intended beneficiaries, forming a digitalized food supply and demand system.
