The Rural Power Coalition and Shareable are co-hosting the Rural Electric Cooperative Co-lab in March and April 2025. The Co-lab features eight training sessions. This learning and action lab is designed to mobilize supportive organizations and rural electric cooperative member-owners to reclaim their co-op utilities to spread democracy, improve people’s lives, and act on the climate crisis. In this third session presenters Philip Fracica, Liz Veazey, and Rob Davis explored topics of sustainability, affordability, and reliability in energy generation and distribution, with a focus on virtual power plants and agrivoltaics. The following sessions of the co-lab get into specific areas and ways to get involved in rural electric cooperatives. At the end of the co-lab is over, a comprehensive digital organizing toolkit and self-paced online course will be released, which will empower member-owners to take action at the local level.
