The origins of Mithi’s peaceful existence are rooted in the geographical location of the city, which rose out of the sand dunes in the majestic Tharparkar desert, The Krishna Temple (Sri Murli Mandir) is located in a quaint neighborhood within the capital of the district Tharparkar, Mithi, where narrow lanes see children frolicking to and fro and free-roaming oxen go unperturbed. The temple's vibrant and intricately designed exterior is adorned with carvings of Krishna with his characteristic flute, weapons wielded by deities in Mahabharat, and ornate patterns. The construction of the temple took five years from start to finish and it has become a center for religious activities for those in the vicinity as well as devotees from other neighborhoods. The priest here is primarily busy with devotees looking to make an offering but had a few words to say: "There is peace here. The worries of the world are forgotten here. We can all be happy, but the purity of the heart is a must. Tolerance is the key."
