Love/Hate filmed Sat. Dec 15 2012 Key Club, Hollywood CA. from Jon E. Love's side as he crushes those Engl Amps. "Tumbleweed" is from "Blackout in the Red Room," 1990. (More click See More below..) I love how bluesy and ragged-timing all those first album songs were. I was really microfocused on 30's country-blues guitar styles as applied to modern rock like Zeppelin, and really took to the simple complexity of what Love/Hate were doing. This group was (IS) a personal favorite of mine because as my bands struggled to understand the basics of mutual cooperation, these boys actually sacrificed and achieved a few record "deals" if you could call it that and made some recordings of prominence as the recording industry collapsed around them. Back in 1986-87, many bands would just dress up like Aerosmith and pinch song lyrics or styles to get out and play for a short while, calling themselves original. Love/Hate were probably the most serious, and it shows they gave a lot of thought to the music before they started out. Other peer musicians I kidnapped along with me to their shows in the mid-80's I could tell were obviously jealous and talked smack, that never bothered me or swayed my opinion. I always thought they were great. Singer: Jizzy Pearl Bass: Skid Rose Guitar: Jon E. Love Drummer: (I don't think this is Joey Gold.. may be a temp guy, he loses some intros.) The songs of Love/Hate are something I'd describe as everything along the pop/hard rock/classic metal spectrum that is any good: comfortable song lengths usually under 5 minutes each, and classic Beatle-type vocal harmonies. These are songs you can sing, although most of them are pretty hard to follow - Jizzy is the best lead male vocalist left in Los Angeles! However, this focus was on Jon. It's all about Jon for me - not because I'm a guitar fan, but because 99% of these YouTubes focus on Jizzy. All trademarks and copywrites (KeyClub, Band and songwriters etc.) respective to their owners.. I could dig out my cassettes and figure out who wrote what and credit him them or all, but chances are someone will comment.
