I was out for another tower grab, as well as a walk with some friends I just made from the Leeds Branch, so the first tower we rung at was the church of St Michael and All Angels, Thornhill near Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. And there was also the Church Fete being set up while we rang, as that started when we finished ringing. But we had a few problems with the stays, as there were that type that had a bolt on and the bolts kept coming off and the bells did all sort of crazy shit and not stand, and I had to lower the second after filming, the reason why I said "Oh No!" at the end. The bells however were cast in 1910 by Charles Carr of Smethwick for the church of St Paul, Cross Stone in Todmorden, until that church closed in 1978, and the bells were transferred from Todmorden to Thornhill and rehung in 1980 in their present location, and I was imagining the bells ringing out over the Calder Valley in their original home some 50 years ago....
