Man arrested after woman killed in shooting on Indy's south side

Police say a woman is dead after a shooting on Indianapolis' south side Wednesday evening. Officers responded to a report of a person who had been shot in the 5000 block of Shelby Street, just south of Thompson Road, around 8:30 p.m. Jan. 14. When officers arrived, they found a man who believed he had been shot, but it turned out only his clothing had been struck by gunfire. The man told police at the scene there were two people inside a house that may have been shot. Inside that house, police found a woman who had been shot. The woman died from her injuries.
