(27 Jul 1995) T/I: 10:04:55 10:30:33 10:54:40 In a move to counteract the worldwide protests against the French decision to resume nuclear tests in the South Pacific, the French authorities on Wednesday (26-7) took journalists on a rare tour of their test site in the Mururoa Atoll, and a nearby test site, Fangataufa. Some 37 journalists and photographers were flown to the atolls. The French intention was to lift a shroud of secrecy surrounding the underground tests.
