#DelhiPolice #DelhiCrime #MobileSnatching #Blinkit #SmartPolicing A mobile phone snatching gang operating in Delhi’s Central District has been busted in a smart and innovative police operation. The team of DBG Road Police Station arrested three accused using a Blinkit delivery tracking strategy that is now being widely discussed. The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Namir alias Namiruddin (around 22 years old), Mohammad Faizan (around 23 years old), both residents of Wazirabad, and Mohammad Sameer (around 24 years old), a resident of Burari. Sameer worked as a receiver who helped dispose of the stolen mobile phones. The incident took place on February 9. A consultant working in a private firm filed a complaint at DBG Road Police Station stating that his daughter was standing outside Gate No. 2 of Amaryllis while booking an Uber cab. At that moment, two men riding a scooter approached her, snatched her iPhone 14 Pro from her hand, and fled the spot. The act was so sudden that the young woman could not even react. Police registered a case and began an investigation. The investigation was carried out under the supervision of ACP Paharganj Saurabh A. Narendra and SHO Randhir Singh. A special team led by Sub-Inspector Sumit Singh, in-charge of Siddhipura Chowki, was formed. The police scanned hundreds of CCTV footages from areas including Amaryllis, Sangam Vihar, Wazirabad, and Sadar Bazar. During the investigation, with the help of an informer, the police obtained a mobile contact number linked to Mohammad Namir. This is where the operation took an interesting turn. Since February 9 falls during Valentine’s Week and is celebrated as “Chocolate Day,” the police used the occasion to their advantage. The team posed as a “secret admirer” and placed a chocolate order through the Blinkit app using the suspect’s mobile number. As soon as the delivery partner moved toward the provided location, plainclothes police personnel discreetly tracked him. The delivery address led them directly to Namir’s hideout in Wazirabad. When Namir stepped out to receive the chocolate, the police immediately apprehended him. During interrogation, Namir disclosed the name of his accomplice, Mohammad Faizan, who was arrested the same day. Further investigation led to the arrest of Mohammad Sameer from the Burari area. Sameer acted as a middleman who helped sell the stolen mobile phones in the market. The accused revealed that they had initially stolen a Honda Activa scooter from the Sadar Bazar area. They used this stolen scooter to commit multiple snatching incidents, mainly targeting pedestrians and people standing alone in relatively deserted places while using their phones or booking cabs. After committing the crimes, they would hand over the stolen mobile phones to Sameer, who would arrange their sale. The police recovered the robbed iPhone 14 Pro, two other stolen mobile phones, and the stolen scooter used in the crime. Additionally, important digital evidence such as WhatsApp chats and call recordings between the accused and the receiver were found on their mobile phones. With this operation, the police have solved five cases of snatching and theft. Delhi Police’s innovative strategy once again demonstrated that no matter how clever criminals may be, they cannot escape the law for long. A simple chocolate delivery ultimately led to the arrest of the entire gang. Police are currently conducting raids to trace the main receiver involved in the racket.
