At Al Passetto, owner Giorgio Ghedina has more than 30 Olympic torches on display, along with dozens of other priceless items of memorabilia. Ghedina, who is the uncle of five-time Italian Olympic alpine skier Kristian Ghedina, said his interest in torch collecting was lit when he took part in the 2006 Turin Winter Olympic torch relay. "I was a torchbearer for Turin, which passed right here in front of us, and I had the opportunity to buy the torch," he said, "That's when this escalation began of collecting these pieces of memorabilia.” Ghedina, a former bobsledder on Italy’s national team, was born in Cortina three years after the town hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics. He has torches on display from both Winter Olympics that have taken place in his hometown, which is serving as a co-host of the 2026 Games with Milan.
