CURATOR Melissa Starke Melissa currently holds the position of department coordinator of Fine Arts at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and project coordinator for the FITSA, NYC based artist collective Urban Studio. Ms. Starke has curated a number of exhibitions in New York City and most recently at Miami Art Basel 2012. She is also an instructor at FIT in their pre-college program, specializing in Color Theory and Mixed Media since 2006. "torche' galerie" is a contemporary art gallery and event space dedicated (but not limited) to the promotion of local artists, and to providing fine art to established and emerging collectors. "torche' galerie" is a bi-level space and spans over 4,500 square feet. Our main floor is equipped with removable/adjustable walls which lends itself to a variety of spatial configurations. The second floor houses three rectangular exhibition rooms, and can be equipped with a viewing room for video installation art. We also cater to special events in support of Fine Art Organizations that foster social awareness and other community issues.
