Unique footage: Jazzsax legend Lou Donaldson (1926 - 2024) was a great pioneer of hardbop and souljazz and the list of celebs he worked with is almost endless and diverse: Thelonius Monk, Art Blakey, George Benson, Clifford Brown, Blue Mitchell and so on. In this footage, the dutch TV-programma Sesjun, he is accompanied by the organ virtuoso Lonnie Smith. They go way back, and were both responsible in 1967 for a remarkable number, that was composed under pressure, because they needed a "last song" to fill the time for an album, and that was Alligator Bogaloo.
