MIAA Division 4 Quarterfinals - Nantucket Whalers Boys Hockey vs Stoneham Spartans - March 6, 2024

The Whalers Varsity Boys Ice Hockey team continues their MIAA State Tournament run with a Quarterfinals showdown against the Spartans. Nantucket (17-4-1) enter this Round of 8 game as the #2 seed, besting #15 ranked Bourne with a thrilling 3-2 victory on Sunday. The Whalers defeated #31 seeded St. John Paul II 6-3 in the round of 32 game last Friday. Stoneham (10-11-1) came back from a rocky 2-6 start to their season to earn a #10 seed coming into the Division 4 state tourney, besting #23 Rockport 4-2 last Thursday in the opening round and upsetting #7 Wilmington 6-0 on Sunday to earn their way to the Elite 8. This is only the second time these two programs have faced off, the prior meeting also being an MIAA Division 4 Quarterfinals playoff match back on March 11, 2022 from (The LOU) The Stoneham Ice Arena, which was the Nantucket Sports Connection's first foray off the island. Stoneham skated to a 7-2 win after a four goal third period for the Spartans. It was the Whalers deepest run in the tournament until last years Final Four appearance.    • MIAA Quarterfinal Tournament Game - Whaler...   The Whalers won 15 games in a row after an opening game loss, but finished the regular season 0-3-1. Stoneham played one of the toughest schedules in any division and are one of two remaining teams with a losing record. Puck drops at 3:15pm with the livestream starting at 3 from the BOG (Nantucket Ice Community Rink).
