Performing measurements with infrared light are critical in many application spaces. From thermal cameras looking for human fevers to sequencing the human genome, so much information lies in the infrared region. In many of these cases the light source is simply the blackbody radiation happening all around us, but in other cases components such as lamps, LEDs and lasers must be utilized. Then of course is the IR detector, which is a very complex space to navigate with many options to choose from. This series will focus on IR point detectors, image sensors, cameras, lamps, LEDs, IR lasers, and the applications that accompany them.
