A Muslim and a Māori photographer share their culture through their cameras

His work showcases the beauty of tikanga and Māoritanga in action. Dr Rami Elsayed moved to Ōtautahi Christchurch in 2017 to complete his PhD in chemistry. Moving to Aotearoa New Zealand with his young family and no relatives while adjusting to a new culture was a challenge. Photography helped him in this transition and opened doors to connect with new people. Te Rawhitiroa invites Rami to his hometown of Whāingaroa Raglan. They connect over their shared love for photography and their curiosity about each other's culture and practices.
