Sheker pare Ingredients For the syrup: 200 g (1 cup) sugar 200 ml ( 1 cup )water 2 tbsp lemon juice For the dough: 100 g ( 1/2 cup) butter 1 whole egg and 1 egg white 100 ml (1/2 cup) vegetable oil 3 tbsp powdered sugar 3 tbsp semolina 1 tsp vanilla sugar, 8 g 2 tsp baking powder, 15 g 350g (2,2/3 cups) all purpose flour For the top: 1 egg yolk 1 tbsp vegetable oil For decorating: Almonds Instructions Make the syrup: Pour the water in a cooking pot and add the sugar and lemon juice. Boil for 5 minutes over medium heat. Set aside Make the dough: In a large bowl, combine the eggs and butter until smooth. Add the oil, powdered sugar, semolina, vanilla and baking powder. Keep kneading with adding flour. Dough should be the consistency of your earlobe. Preheat your oven to 180C (356F) and oil grease a baking tray with oil. Combine the egg yolk and oil. Roll dough into walnut size flatten lightly with your hands, place on greased baking tray. Brush top of each ball of dough with egg wash. Decorate with almonds. Bake in preheated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from oven and pour the syrup over the warm cookies.
