Jim and Beth Arient have one of the foremost collections of 20th Century American Folk Art in the United States. They traveled throughout the United States to visit various folk artists to not only collect their art but to better understand their craft and upbringing as artists. In this interview, Jim and Beth recount their history with folk art and discuss the factors that led them to want to travel across the United States to visit the various artists that they encountered over the years. We also hear from Matt Arient, the son of Jim and Beth, who recounts his relationship with folk art and how it helped to shape a large part of his childhood.
