The injection phase and actually smoking the turkey is coming up next!! #smokingaturkey #thanksgivingdinner #thanksgivingturkey #howtosmokeaturkey How to bring a Thanksgiving Turkey Brine Ingredients: In 1 gallon of water mix 1 cup kosher salt 1 cup brown sugar ¼ mixed pepper corns ¼ cup of thyme ¼ cup of rosemary ¼ cup of basil Mix the brine ingredients in warm/hot water to dissolve all of the salt and sugar. Cool the mixture down BEFORE you pour it over the turkey. Put turkey into a brining bag or a large Ziploc bag. Pour in COLD brine mixture Pour in additional amounts of water until the top of the turkey is fully covered. This usually takes 2 total gallons of liquid (including the brine) for a 14-16 lb turkey. Brine the turkey for 24 hours but not any longer. If you marinate it for longer it may compromise the texture of the turkey meat. *tip: if you don’t have a fridge big enough, defrost and brine the turkey in a cooler with ice.
