I had beaten P2 after a few days of trying on Violent but Brutal wasn't something I was quite ready for yet. But as more trailers dropped, and we kept seeing more and more revamped layers from Hakita, the excitement grew. I started playing cybergrind on Violent (Highest Wave: 30) casually as a way to pass time and blow off some steam again, as well as a way to keep my skills fairly sharp. Finally the ULTRAREVAMP update dropped, and I decide its time. I dragged myself from my hole and replayed the entire base game, start to finish, on Brutal over the course of a week. My goal was already set in front of me, I wanted to finally P-Rank this god-forsaken level. All that stood between me and 100% was this, and encore. It became a point of pride over the following few days, of practice. While there are PLENTY of P2 clears on the internet, I wanted to add my own, from the perspective of a player who I'd like to say at this point has gotten decent, but not good. I knew I could do it. But attempt after attempt, as hard drive dwindled and video footage increased, I needed something to push me over the edge. Each time I had reached Sisyphus on a good run, the adrenaline and panic would set in. WAR & Chaos drove me mad, to the point where I had an attempt reach the Panopticon, only for me to pause and take a nap. I was shaking so badly I knew I would choke the run (which I would promptly lose anyway). This run was the run I decided to do something different. I would change the music, and blast something so focusing I couldn't possibly lose. Deciding to keep it consistent, I chose a lyrical cover of Tenbre Rosso Sanguine. You can see the results for yourself. Overall, out of all the runs I had, this run was not clean whatsoever. The missed virtue in the blood hallway, the missed sentry in the final arena, the missed rail-cannon on the Ferryman in the Cerberus (Weezer) room, and so much more all made this run all but certain to be a failure; but somehow it wasn't. I wasn't focused on style, I was focused on endurance and survival. At the end of the day, it's done, and I'm proud of it. ENCORE, ENCORE, ENCORE!
