Over a thousand people were in attendance on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the soon to be old Adams City High School Football Field. Almost five hundred alumni registered and were in attendance and many shared their memories of their former school and community icon. Former students, teachers, and staff came to say their final goodbyes to the Grand Ole School. The school started in 1907 as a four room brick structure located at Cherry Street and 69th Avenue in what was then formally Adams City. This was the beginning of Union High School No. 1, whose first graduating class was in 1910 with one boy and one girl, who both continued onto Colorado University. A 100% graduation rate and college attendance rate. In 1946, Adams County School District 14 was formed of several small school districts, and Adams City High School came into being, replacing Union High School No. 1. The last graduating class on June 4, 2009 was made up of 308 students. The new Adams City High School, being built at 72cnd Avenue and Quebec Street will open in the fall of 2009. A special thanks goes to the many volunteers and community sponsors that helped to make this historic event happen and a very special thanks goes to the committee members; Roni Reynolds, Angel Anderson, Anna Otero-Revello, and Crystal Armendariz Elliot.
