I remember vividly strumming the chord changes on my porch and singing the lyrics “purpose and reason, that’s what they say that you get when you have kids”. It struck me as such a powerful line, and I wanted to take a bit further. I had also been searching for a way to honour my family and the struggles that my ancestors had and the sacrifices that they made to ensure that I had a good life. My family before me and our children in front of me inspired this song.
