#bengaljukebox ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Bengal Foundation organised a four-day cultural festival titled 'Prane Ano Gan' from December 24 to 27, 2025. Supported by Dhaka Bank, the festival is aimed at reflecting the nuances of tradition and contemporary culture, through music, crafts, and visual art, in celebration of Bangladesh’s month of independence. This event is part of Bengal Foundation’s continuous endeavour to make the practice and pursuit of Bangladesh’s art and culture more dynamic, accessible and multidimensional. The inaugural session of the 'Prane Ano Gan' festival, held in the month of our independence, unfolded with a soul-stirring ensemble titled 'Songs and Poetry of the Motherland.' The evening commenced with the powerful voices of Mustafizur Rahman Turjo, Mainur Rahman Khan, and Manashi Shadhu. Their choral renditions breathed new life into three iconic anthems of struggle and hope: 1. 'Shedin Ar Koto Dure' – The visionary lyrics and composition of Salil Chowdhury. 2. 'Teer Hara Ei Dheuer Shagor' – Apel Mahmood’s timeless tribute to the turbulent journey of freedom. 3. 'Durgam Giri Kantar Moru' – The fiery revolutionary spirit of Kazi Nazrul Islam. Interwoven with these melodies, the air resonated with the profound verses of our greatest poets. Elocutionist Mohiuddin Shamim held the audience spellbound, weaving a tapestry of words through: 1. Jibanananda Das’s ethereal 'Banglar Mukh Ami Dekhiachi' 2. Shamsur Rahman’s yearning call in 'Tomake Pabar Jonno He Swadhinata' 3. Helal Hafiz’s bold and evocative 'Nishiddho Shompadokiyo' 4. Asad Chowdhury’s poignant 'Barbara Bidlerke' It was more than a performance; it was a rhythmic journey through the soul of Bangladesh—where melody met memory, and poetry met the pride of a nation.
