Delane Parnell is the Founder and CEO of PlayVS, a technology startup building the infrastructure for high school esports. Prior to starting PlayVS, Delane worked at IncWell Venture Capital where he became the youngest black venture capitalist in The United States. A lifelong entrepreneur, Delane started his first job at 13 and by 17, Delane used the money he saved to purchase three cell phone stores and joined the founding team of Executive Car Rental, which now has 16 locations across Michigan. In April 2018, PlayVS announced their exclusive partnership with the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) to collaborate on the national rollout of esports in high schools. In June of 2018, the company announced a $15M Series A led by NEA, the largest ever for a black founder in the consumer internet industry. Born and raised in Detroit, Marcus Carey's earliest dreams were inspired by entrepreneurship. Years of honing those interests led to his current fascination with businesses and markets driven by culture.After stints in private equity w/ CCMP Capital and venture capital w/ SVB Capital, Marcus is currently an Entrepreneur-in-Residence with Detroit Venture Partners, preparing to launch his next startup. Previously, he founded and sold award-winning boutique hotel brand HOMAGE Hotels (@stayhomage) Sebastian Jackson is the Founder and CEO of The Social Club Grooming Company and has nearly 20 years of experience in the men’s grooming industry. He has been recognized by the Michigan Ross School of Business, Harvard Business School and the Stanford Graduate School of Business as a guest lecturer. He is currently an Entrepreneur in Residence at Rock Ventures. Shop Talk is transforming the age-old barbershop conversation and has the potential to do the same to our society in the process.
