Japan PM Fumio Kishida India visit: “Indo-Pacific plan for peace” on cards

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is set to arrive in India for a two-day trip on March 20. This will be Kishida’s first visit to India since last summit meeting held in March 2022 between India and Japan .The G7 & G20 presidencies plan to stress on the importance of international border based on the rule of law. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and PM Kishida are expected to call for cooperation on global issues such as Ukraine war. The Japanese PM will also unveil new concrete Indo-Pacific plans which Japan has always advocated for, according to NHK. PM Kishida’s visit is aimed at inviting PM Modi for the G7 Summit that is scheduled to take place in Hiroshima in May. Kishida has repeatedly expressed his wish to enhance ties with Global South countries. India is considered one of the key leaders among emerging and developing nations collectively known as the Global South.
